The following three photos were selected as the top 3 at the last club meeting.
First Place - Singled Out by Ernest Arnold

Ernest said that dance groups on stage are good subjects for photos, especially in a rehearsal or photo-shoot. Due to low stage light and slow shutter speeds a tripod is needed. In this case I zoomed in a bit on the dancers and waited for the right moment for one of them to break the pattern ( would not happen in the live show ). I then kept the one dancer in true colour and changed the rest to monochrome in Photoshop. This helped to add extra focus on her as the main subject. Some cropping was needed to round off the image. This photo was also in my successful APSSA panel.
Second Place - Kubu Kremetart by Francois Roux

Francois said the following about this photo:
Die foto is Junie verlede jaar in Botswana op Kubu eiland geneem. Dit was laatmiddag en ek het maar bietjie rondgestap en op die rotse geklim. F11 is gebruik om groot diepte van veld te kry; 1/30sek; en ‘n driepoot is gebruik.
Third Place - Wineland Chapel by Mike Tarmey

Mike commented that the shot was taken during the PSSA Congress at Hermanus. While Johann, Francois and Pat were scrambling about like mountain goats, I took this photo from the road through a gap in the trees fringing the vineyards.
